Terms of Service
The short version
- The ResForMe Research Platform is asynchronous research coaching: the student uploads work, AI reviewers write feedback, and a professor oversees everything official.
- A parent creates the account, consents, and pays. Students must be 14 or older.
- The plan is $99 per month. The free trial lasts 7 days, a card is required, the first charge is on day 8, and canceling during the trial costs nothing.
- Any monthly charge is refundable in full if you ask within 7 days of that charge.
- The student owns every piece of research they make. We claim no rights to it.
- Nothing official (certificates, recommendation letters) exists without a professor's personal sign-off.
1. Who we are and what this is
The ResForMe Research Platform is AI-assisted research coaching with professor oversight. A student uploads research work (code, data, figures, drafts) to one private Google Drive folder. AI reviewers read it and write plain-language feedback into the student's Google Doc. A professor receives regular briefings on the student's progress, adds human judgment where it matters, and personally approves every certificate and every recommendation letter.
This platform is the self-paced sibling of ResForMe's live mentorship program at resforme.com. There are no live meetings on this plan. All review happens through uploads and written feedback. By creating an account you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy.
2. Who can join
Students must be 14 or older. A parent or legal guardian creates the account, gives consent by checkbox during signup, and manages billing. The student then joins through an email invite sent from the parent's account. Students who are 18 or older can give this consent themselves and act as their own account owner.
3. Accounts
- The parent (or an adult student) is the account owner and is responsible for billing.
- Keep your password private and your email address current. Tell us right away if you believe someone else has used your account.
- One student per subscription. Each additional student needs their own subscription.
- Give us accurate information at signup, including the student's real age.
4. Payments, trial, pause, and cancellation
- The plan is $99 per month, month-to-month. You can cancel anytime from the billing page, and it takes about a minute.
- The free trial lasts 7 days and requires a card. Day 1 is signup day. The first charge of $99 (plus tax where owed) happens on day 8. We email you on day 5 to remind you, so there are no surprises. Cancel before day 8 and you pay nothing.
- The trial is offered once per student.
- You can pause the subscription one month at a time, up to 3 months in a row. While paused you are not billed, and the student's portfolio, evidence log, and Research Genome are kept exactly as they were.
- Card details are entered on the pages of Stripe, our payment provider, and stored by Stripe. We never see or store full card numbers.
5. Refunds
Any monthly charge is refundable in full if you request it within 7 days of that charge. Ask through the support center. Requests inside this policy are approved right away. Anything unusual goes to a person, who decides.
6. Ownership of student work
The student owns everything they create on or through the platform: code, data, figures, posters, drafts, and papers. We claim no rights to any of it. The platform reads student work only to produce feedback for that student. Student work is never used to train AI models, never sold, and never shared with third parties. This is a hard rule, not a preference.
7. Certificates and recommendation letters
- Certificates recognize verified achievements, never subscription time alone, and every certificate requires a professor's sign-off.
- Recommendation letters are drafted only from the student's documented evidence log, then edited, approved, and signed by the professor. No letter is ever sent without professor approval. No exceptions.
- Because both depend on real, verified work, no payment can buy a certificate or a letter.
8. Acceptable use and academic integrity
The platform coaches real research, and it only works if the work is real. You agree that:
- The student submits their own work. Presenting someone else's work, fabricated data, or fully AI-generated work as the student's own is academic dishonesty.
- Everyone on the platform treats everyone else with respect. Harassment, threats, and abusive language are not tolerated.
- The platform is not used for unethical research, meaning work designed to harm people, animals, or systems.
- Nobody attempts to break, probe, or misuse the platform's systems or another family's data.
We may close an account for academic dishonesty, harassment, disrespectful behavior, or unethical research. If we close an account for one of these reasons, the refund rule in section 5 still applies to any charge from the last 7 days, and nothing beyond that is owed.
9. What we do not promise
We are a coach with a referee, not a guarantor. We do not guarantee specific outcomes such as competition placement, publication acceptance, or college admission. What we do promise is honest feedback on real work, a documented evidence log, and a professor's genuine judgment behind everything official.
10. AI feedback, honestly described
AI reviewers state what they reviewed and what they assumed. They never invent results, citations, or praise. Day-to-day feedback is written by AI, and AI can make mistakes: read the feedback critically, because that too is part of learning research. AI feedback is coaching. It is not a grade, a legal or medical opinion, or professional advice.
11. Liability, in plain words
We work hard to keep the platform running and the feedback useful, but we provide the service as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for indirect losses, and our total responsibility is limited to the amounts you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. The governing law and the formal entity details will be completed before launch.
12. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will email the account owner before the change takes effect. Continuing to use the platform after that date means you accept the updated terms. If you do not, you can cancel anytime, and the refund rule in section 5 still applies.
